Terrafirma Training offer a one-stop shop, fully equipped training centre, focusing on vehicle-associated training such as 4×4 off-road professional driver training, winching, health & safety & risk management in winching, trailer handling basic & off-road and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) training.
Terrafirma Training provide high quality, nationally recognised professional training courses, accredited by Lantra to QQI Level 5. We are located at our custom-developed 4×4 training site in Kilkea, Castledermot, County Kildare, Republic of Ireland.
All our courses are delivered via a network of Ireland-based instructors, who are rigorously assessed to ensure they are delivering the highest standards of training. We can also provide bespoke training via our customised provision programme. One such programme is our bespoke Severe Weather and Off-Road Driving course (SWORD) which was created for the voluntary emergency services network including; Civil Defence, Red Cross, Order of Malta and Mountain Rescue. This course has also been adopted by the National Ambulance Service.

Our onsite training facilities includes a purpose-built training classroom to accommodate up to 8 trainees per course. Our instructor to trainee ratio is normally 1:3, as per training guidelines. Our intention at Terrafirma Training is for training to be not only safe and informative, but also enjoyable.
Upon arrival at Terrafirma Training you will be guided through the training process by our admin team who will be on hand to assist you with any admin queries. Most courses will include refreshments during the day which consists of tea, coffee and a light, healthy lunch (any special dietary needs will be catered for – prior notice required).
Accreditation & Qualifications
Lantra accredited courses (QQI Level 5)
Terrafirma Training possesses the skills, experience and relevant accreditation to assist you in choosing the correct training course for you. All courses include Health & Safety legislation and legal requirements. We use only expertly trained and fully accredited instructors, who have years of experience in this field and have been trained and assessed to Lantra’s high standards, which are fully recognised in the Republic of Ireland to QQI Level 5.
Terrafirma Training is unique in being the only Lantra accredited training facility in the Republic of Ireland, to offer vehicle-based training such as 4×4 off road driver training, winch training, trailer handling training and all-terrain vehicle training (ATV, sit-astride/sit inside).
Lantra is a nationally recognised awarding body, approved to develop and accredit qualifications specialising in training and qualifications for land-based activities. More information can be found on the Lantra website.
