Introduction

The Safety, Health & Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulation 2007, tends to form the basis of Irish health and safety within the workplace.  The Act highlights the responsibility that employers have in relation to their employees and members of the public and what employees have to each other.

It is the responsibility of the employer to ensure that they have taken measures to avoid risk, or to reduce it, and naturally dependent on the type of workplace will depend on the measures needed to be taken.

Our Health and Safety and Risk Management in Winching course, aims to give you the practical knowledge that you need in order to understand health and safety requirements, best practice and risk assessment in relation to the vehicle mounted or hand operated winch, making sure that you are aware of the risks when using this equipment, so safe working practices can be implemented.

Who is it for?

If you are required to operate, or are going to operate a hand or mechanical winch on or off the road, then this course can help provide you with the safety knowledge required. Once the course has been completed individual assessment will be carried out and if you reach the required standard then you will receive the nationally recognised certificate in Health and Safety and Risk Management in Winching.

What will you get from it?
  • Identify health and safety requirements and be able to carry out a risk assessment before using a vehicle mounted or hand-operated winch and associated equipment.

  • Recognise and understand safe working practices for winching.

  • Prepare for and carry out the recovery of a vehicle in an off-road situation or moving of an object from point A to point B safely including correct use of associated equipment and snatch blocks.
